Following hot on the heels of Vodafone Music, network operator O2 has confirmed a deal with Sony BMG to allow mobile phone owners to download songs, ringtones and music videos from their favourite Sony artists.

O2 mobile phone owners will have access to songs by Bob Dylan
O2 is calling it "the first artist-led mobile music store". Users will access the store via special band microsites that will rotate to tally with Sony's release schedule.
The store, called My Play, goes live today, and is accessible through the O2 Active portal. Early pricing details seem a bit steep -- music videos will cost £1.50, ringtones an eye-watering £3.50 and full-length music tracks 99p. There are no albums available for over-the-air download at the moment. Songs will be chart eligible from the moment of release, but the downside is that content will be locked to the phone it's downloaded to. It remains unclear whether or not you'll be able to take your music, videos and tones with you if you upgrade to a new O2 handset.
O2, of course, already offers a music-download service in association with Napster. That deal, which was inked in March, will continue to operate alongside My Play.
Sony BMG's roster of stars include Bob Dylan, Mark Ronson, Leona Lewis and Rod Stewart, as well as Bruce Springsteen.
