My 12-year-old cat was attacked by our other cat, and now he is urinating by the front door. We took him to the vet and were told that he was diabetic. We are trying glypizide on him, but he still pees near the door every day.
The problem might be that his blood sugar is not regulated and is still too high even though you
are giving him the glypizide. One way too tell is to check his urine with urine strips to see if
there is sugar in his urine. Diabetic animals are also predisposed to bladder infections
because of the presence of sugar in their urine and this may be contributing to him urinating
outside the box. I would take him in for a complete urinalysis and ask your vet to give you
urine strips to test his urine at home as well.
