There are many struggling actors and actresses are trying to become the next celebrity in Hollywood; however, at the time, do they realize that their life becomes a book for all to read and critique.

Some will say that the lack of privacy and being exposed to the public eye is in a celebrity’s job description. Therefore, privacy is no longer a right or privilege. Even though celebrities may have the money and clout, privacy becomes a rare commodity.

Why does it become a rare commodity? Surely, if the public did not demand to know the intimate details of celebrities, the paparazzi would not incessantly follow them. What does this say about the general public? Why do we find it entertaining to know that Madonna may have marital problems or if Amy Winehouse is in rehab or not?

Perhaps, we all contribute to the vicious cycle. People want to know about their favourite celebrities as a result, the media makes a large profit in capturing and acquires every private detail, which in turn, provokes celebrities to either act out in positive or negative manner. In the end, privacy becomes a commodity that not even the rich and famous can afford.
