Canada Cares: Youth Programs and the National Parks

Canada Cares: Youth Programs and the National Parks

Oct 30, 2015

National parks are protected areas of stunning countryside that house a diverse mixture of flora and fauna. Canada currently has 37 national parks spread out over its 13 provinces with plans to add many more over the coming years. National parks are ideal places to take children whether for camping holidays or a short visit, and many parks offer games and activities that appeal to kids of all ages. Parks Canada has introduced a number of programs designed to get children interested in nature and encourage them to spend time in some of the most breathtakingly beautiful places the world has to offer. Learn to Camp Camping vacations are ideal ways to experience the great outdoors and teach children valuable skills that will last a lifetime. For families that have yet to experience the fun of a camping trip, Parks Canada offers camping lessons to help prepare children for their first outdoor adventures. Experienced guides are on hand to teach children how to put up a tent, how to cook outdoors and what equipment is necessary for a safe and enjoyable camping trip. Camping is only allowed in designated areas of national parks, and it is advisable to check with Parks Canada to see which parks offer camping amenities. My Parks Pass The My Parks Pass is a fantastic scheme that gives children currently in Grade 8 free entry to all national parks for a year whether they visit with their family or as part of a school trip. The scheme also gives students the opportunity to win an all-expenses paid trip to a national park, historic site, or marine conservation area for their entire class. Parents of grade 8 pupils can order a My Parks Pass online from the main website. Off-roading is one of the best ways to explore everything that Canada’s national parks have to offer, and a Atlantic Dodge dealer can offer some excellent deals on four-wheel drive vehicles. Heritage Chocolate What better way to get kids interested in the outdoors than by offering them chocolate? Heritage chocolate events are held at various historic sites and are designed to teach children about the role chocolate production has played in Canada’s...

You never know what airline you might end up on during your journey, and better safe than sorry with checked baggage fees these days. A safe bet is a bag no bigger than: 55cm x 40cm x 20 cm. You can find killer deals for backpacks on sites like Finish Line and Sports Authority, or get creative and go super-durable with something from Home Depot. Clothes One of the worst things in the world is reading about covering up in Muslim countries, and packing for winter weather in 90°F heat. Not cool. Don’t be that guy. Most countries, while very religious, are pretty progressive. You can beat the heat and be modest. Stores like American Eagle and Forever 21 have super stylish gear for both outdoor days and nights out–that aren’t too revealing for countries in East Asia. Let’s Go To Kyoto, Japan!

Let’s Go To Kyoto, Japan!

Sep 6, 2014

In all of Japan, I have to agree that Kyoto is one of the most gorgeous places in the country. What else do you need when in Kyoto you will get great selection food, endless shopping opportunity, countles temples, statues and Zen gardens to visit? I totally enjoyed walking through the bamboo forest, popping into one temple after another and witnessing the wide array of Kyoto’s beautiful Zen gardens. Cost of Accommodation A night in a hostel dorm room in Kyoto had cost me USD25. Most of these hotels are just within a 10-minute walk from the Kyoto station and they offer free Wi-Fi, private terraces and a kitchen for travelers to cook their own food. As for the budget hotels, you can expect to pay about USD60 per night, complete with normal amenities and free Wi-Fi. I would suggest for you to shop around before finally settling in one of the hostels or hotels. (image by: University of Nottingham) Cost of Food The first few days I was there, I was attempted to eat everything in Kyoto. I was not quite careful, I knew I would be spending most of money on eating out there. Fortunately, there are a lot of cheap food around apart from those expensive restaurants. I would recommend trying out sushi belt restaurnts, tempura and cheap ramen for less than USD7. For a plate of curry bowl, the cheapest is at USD2.75. Other than that, a bowl of rice and meat called Donburi had cost me about USD4-USD4.50. If you wish to cook your own food, the cost of groceries can be around USD70 per week. As for sit-down restaurants, the cost will be between USD10-USD20 including table service. Cost of Transportation Bus is probably one of the easiest ways to get around Kyoto city. For a single ride on a bus, I paid USD2.50 and USD5 for an all-day pass. Other than that, Tozai and Karasuma lines, two main trains in Kyoto, have their fares begin at about USD2. From a place to another, the range is pretty accessible and if you can walk on foot, do so to save your budget on transportation. Places To Visit One...

Is it Luxurious Enough? Essential Features of a Luxury Hotel

Is it Luxurious Enough? Essential Features of a Luxury Hotel

Aug 22, 2014

Today everything seems to be luxurious – from washing powder to cars. Every brand has its luxury line and every experience has its (more expensive) luxury choice. But when it comes to hotels, the term “luxury” means something quite special. Luxury hotels must stand out in some way in order to be classified as luxurious. What exactly makes a luxury hotel? There is no set standard for a luxury hotel and four-star and five-star accommodations both describe their facilities as luxury. Here are some of our luxury hotel musts, which help these lodgings stand out from the rest. Easy, Discreet and Intelligent It is not difficult to book a luxury hotel, nor is it stressful to find out about the rooms available and the facilities on offer. Luxury hotels offer a simple reservations process with experienced staff that will allow you to book a room with ease. It is also easy to check into a luxury hotel. You don’t need to stand in line and wait. Luxury hotels have made the check in process simpler than that of the average hotel. Your luggage should swiftly arrive at your room.(Image by rand Hyatt Cannes Hôtel Martinez Cannes ) Meets Your Needs The room you book in a luxury hotel should be the room you get – no switching around because there were no rooms in that category available. The luxury hotel should accommodate your request to have a room overlooking the pool, for example, or on a high floor. If you want a king bed or a pet-friendly room, you should get it. Luxurious Features A luxury hotel offers more. The best boutique hotel and luxury hotel brands provide luxury amenities to match the higher price tag for rooms and stays. Amenities include the overall design of the room as well as the facilities – for example, a luxury hotel room has a quality design with excellent fittings and furniture. There should be no nasty odors and there will be original art on the walls. The bed will be king sized with a good mattress. The cotton sheets will have a high thread count and there will be robes and slippers as standard. Luxury hotel...
