Though it may seem like a small city, visitors often enjoy exploring this multicultural haven that features religious hotspots, famous iconic landmarks and even culturally enriching markets and temples along the streets. Some of the popular places you must consider visiting include:
- Petronas Twin Towers.
These twin towers are considered the world’s largest twin tower buildings and are found in the city centre. These towers have earned a reputation and commonly hailed as the twin jewels of Kuala Lumpur. The towers are 88 storeys high with a sky bridge connecting them at the 41st and 42nd floors.
- Menara KL tower
This tower stand atop the Bukit Nanas forest reserve and is 421 meters high. The tower has been recorded as the fifth tallest structure in the world. Though it has been outshone by the Petronas Towers, the Menara KL tower remains a very significant architectural marker of the city. It has a viewing deck that is about 100 meters higher than that of the twin towers.
Chinatown is a colorful bargain hunter’s paradise that is well known to never sleep. It is one of the most popular tourist attraction spots in Malaysia as it is deeply immersed in heritage, history as well as culture. This is the spot in Kuala Lumpur that you can find almost everything ranging from imitation goods to Chinese herbs.
- Sultan Abdul Samad building
This is a distinguished city landmark that that represents one of the earliest Moorish- style buildings. The building was originally used by the colonial British administration but is currently the home to ministry of information, communications and culture offices.(Image by Bernard)
- Sunway Lagoon Theme Park
This park is around 323,000sqm and the extensive area offers numerous fun activities such as water slides, surf beach, manmade river ride and pirate ship as well as wave pool. It is located in Petaling Jaya and comprises of five different zones. These are the scream park, amusement park, water park, Wildlife Park and the extreme park.
- Aquaria KLCC
This is a 464,000sqm spot that is home to over 150 different species of marine life. This spot is unique with is complexity and real depth that is perfect for sight seeing in Kuala Lumpur. Visitors get to see necklaces of kelp, sea creatures as well as coral.
- Kuala Lumpur Bird Park.
Also referred to as the Taman Burung Kuala Lumpur, this park is considered as the largest covered bird park in the world. Visitors can go bird watching at this park which homes more that 3000 different birds of around 200 species. - Central market
The central market is a great cultural landmark in Kuala Lumpur. The market is also known as Pasar Seni and was built in 1928. The market is now popular as a handicrafts outlet comprising various cheap traditional goods such as Souvenirs, sculpture, batik and embroidery carvings.
